This procedure is mandatory for all volunteers such as Coaches, Assistant Coaches, or any other volunteers having direct contact with players participating in Anne Arundel County Youth Soccer League. More details on the background check can be found at the Rec and Parks website.
- Background checks are offered at no cost to the volunteer. (see note about the $9.00 charge)
- Background checks are good for 3 years.
The purpose of the Background Check Program is to ensure that our children have a safe and positive experience, and to provide parents with peace of mind.
NEW INFORMATION January 2012...There is now a $9.00 charge for the background check. Please make a check payable to ’Anne Arundel County’ and send it in with your request form. MRS will reimburse you for this expense.
No screening process can offer absolute assurances; yet, knowing a volunteer’s background can provide more certainty that people with a history of inappropriate behavior will not have access to our children.

If you are not sure if your Background Check is up-to-date please contact your player agent or check the Rec and Parks web site. The date if your most recent BG check will be posted in the Active Volunteer Database. About a month before your BG check and coach certification expire you should receive by USPS a post card indicating your need to update your cedentials
