Mountain Road Soccer
Pasadena Maryland Youth Soccer Club

Mountain Road Soccer (MRS) is a not for profit youth sports organization located in Pasadena, Maryland.  The club has been around since 1986.  The organization is run by volunteers including the Board of Directors and the coaches.  The club is an affiliated member of the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA).

MRS conducts an annual registration in May for the fall, winter and spring soccer seasons.  Currently, nearly 700 boys and girls are registered from ages 5 through 17.  The club runs a coed intramural program for 5, 6 and 7 year olds.  Ages 8 through 17 are divided into boys and girl’s teams which participate in the Anne Arundel Youth Soccer League (AAYSL) recreational program.  Teams that can compete at a higher level are supported and usually participate in the Baltimore Beltway Soccer League and regional premier tournaments.

As an active member of the Chesapeake Recreational Association, MRS works closely with the AA Department of Recreation and Parks to help maintain the athletic fields in and around Pasadena.  This includes a number of elementary schools and the Lake Shore Athletic Complex.  The community provides many hours of volunteer time each year to keep these facilities clean and safe.

The highlight of our program is the annual MRS Tournament.  This tournament is conducted in November and draws over 100 teams from all over the State of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.  The 3-day event is for boys and girls in both recreational and premier divisions.  The proceeds from this event are exclusively used to award college scholarships to deserving boys and girls graduating from both Chesapeake and Northeast High Schools.  Each year we award 4 scholarships from $250 to $2000 each depending on the participation of the annual tournament.

Mountain Road Soccer has also been active with our local professional soccer teams.  Each year we host a Family Night with the Baltimore Blast at the Baltimore Arena.  In addition, Baltimore Blast players have helped us run summer clinics for players and coaches.  A few years ago MRS hosted the Dannon Soccer Fest in Pasadena where boys and girls had the opportunity to meet and work with Mia Hamm, Kristen Lily and other members of our National Women’s team.

The program is dedicated to providing the opportunity to boys and girls in our community to learn and enjoy the game of soccer.  The program teaches our young players that good play means skillful and fair play.
